It’s 5 o’clock somewhere! Check out these great drink recipes for your weekend (or anytime) get-togethers.

Raspberry Beer Cocktail

What You Need:

  • 3/4 cup frozen raspberries*
  • 3 1/2 (12-oz.) bottles beer, chilled
  • 1 (12-oz.) container frozen raspberry lemonade concentrate, thawed
  • 1/2 cup vodka

What to Do:

Step 1
Stir together first 4 ingredients. Serve over ice. Garnish, if desired.

Step 2
*Fresh raspberries may be substituted.

Step 3
Note: To make ahead, stir together lemonade concentrate and vodka in a large container. Chill up to 3 days. Stir in raspberries and beer just before serving. Garnish, if desired.

What You Need:

  • 1.67 oz Cointreau
  • 1.67 oz Cognac
  • 1.67 oz Sambuca (White)

What to Do:

It’s best to use a brandy sifter glass as there are different sizes to fit different people’s sizes of hands. To check if it fits, turn the glass upside down and be sure that its circumference fits within your palm.

Put the Cointreau, Cognac, and Sambuca into the brandy glass.

Start out by slowly heating the brandy glass with a lighter, keeping a steady heat on the bulb part of the brandy glass which you keep rotating (the brandy glass will become black, but that is normal). When the liquid is warm it will give off alcohol vapour.

Quickly lick your palm.

Light the contents of the glass and place your licked palm quickly over the brandy glass’s top.

With the glass covered, the flames will slowly burn up all the oxygen creating a vacuum inside the glass. Your hand may become hot, but the saliva will keep you from getting burned.

With the glass vacuum sealed onto your palm you can turn the glass upside down and do a basketball basket shot movement. The glass will be firmly attached to your palm!

Now come the final 2 steps. 1 part is alcohol in the glass and the other part is alcohol vapour. Slide the rim of the glass off your hand near your thumb and forefinger.

Step 1: quickly sniff the air from inside the glass and
Step 2: down the cocktail in one action

The mix of vapour and liquid alcohol really gives you an amazing hit, coupled with the fun of all playing basketball together. This really is a great party starter.

Samoa Martini

Note: For the cream in this recipe, just use whatever cream you have on hand. I use fat-free half and half in my coffee in the morning, so that’s what I tossed in, and it was perfect. You could also swap out some of the cream for a scoop of ice cream and make it more of a boozy float, yum!
