A China man is facing several charges after allegedly attacking an ATV rider Sunday on Bog Road, according to the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say a couple was riding along the road when a pickup truck pulled toward them and stopped. The driver, identified as Brent A. Elisens, reportedly got out and began yelling at the couple before punching the man riding the ATV.
The blow allegedly knocked the rider unconscious and caused his head to strike the woman riding behind him. The man fell into a ditch, where deputies say Elisens continued kicking him until the woman reached for a knife she was carrying, according to a report by WGME TV.
Chief Deputy Chris Read said Elisens has had previous negative encounters with residents and ATV riders in the Bog Road area. Authorities said they have previously attempted to connect him with assistance but were unsuccessful.
Elisens was arrested and charged with two counts of assault, disorderly conduct and criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.
