Mountain Street, or Route 52, is closed in Camden Thursday morning between Grove and Trim streets after an apparent water main break left the road impassable, according to a story at WMTW TV.
Camden police are asking drivers to use a detour, allow extra travel time and slow down on nearby residential streets, where students are walking to the middle school.
Camden Public Works, Maine Water and other agencies are working at the scene. Police say a Maine Water employee described the road conditions as among the worst they had seen.
There was no word on when Route 52 will reopen.
