33-year-old Alexander Kubesh, of Rumford, has been charged with felony possession of drugs and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Rumford Police say they discovered methamphetamine, fentanyl and crack cocaines in his Lincoln Avenue home. They also described the conditions as severely unsanitary and unsafe. There were two young children and animals living on the premises.

From the Rumford Police Department:
On Wednesday afternoon at approximately 3:30 p.m., officers from the Rumford Police Department, assisted by the Norway Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the U.S. Border Patrol, executed a search warrant at 244 Pine Street in Rumford. The warrant was part of an ongoing investigation into unlawful firearms possession and illicit drug trafficking. As a result of the search, ALEXANDER TAYLOR KUBESH, age 33, was arrested and charged with multiple felony offenses, including Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Possession of Fentanyl, Felony Possession of Crack Cocaine (all Class C felonies), and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Rumford Police had received information from the community regarding ongoing illegal firearms possession and drug trafficking at the Pine Street residence. KUBESH, a multi-state offender, has a criminal history that includes convictions in Maine for Disorderly Conduct, Violating Bail, Felony Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs, and Probation Violation, making him a convicted felon and legally prohibited from possessing firearms. After a covert investigation, sufficient evidence was obtained to support the issuance of a search warrant.
The search operation involved two coordinated teams. One team took KUBESH into custody on Lincoln Avenue while the other team entered the residence to search for evidence.
Inside the home, officers discovered living conditions that were severely unsanitary and unsafe, posing significant health and safety risks to two young children, ages 4 and 5, as well as two young dogs. Due to the severity of the conditions, DHHS Child Protective Services was immediately contacted and took emergency custody of the children. The Rumford Animal Control Officer also responded and took custody of the dogs.
While no firearms were located during the search, officers recovered gram quantities of crack cocaine and fentanyl, a small quantity of methamphetamine, and several pounds of processed marijuana. The marijuana was seized by federal officers present on the scene, while the remaining drugs were taken into evidence by Rumford Police. The investigation is ongoing as officers continue to work closely with the prosecutor’s office, DHHS Child Protective Services, Animal Control, and Rumford’s Code Enforcement and Health Officer to determine whether additional charges or further action are warranted.
KUBESH was transported to the Oxford County Jail in South Paris and is scheduled for arraignment on Friday.
