Youth Mental Health Art Walk @ Downtown

Hosted by Maine Arts Academy, Augusta Downtown Alliance and Healthy Communities of the Capital Area. The first-ever Youth Mental Health Art Walk event in downtown Augusta to showcase art created by local high school students. The art pieces convey the significance of mental health awareness in our communities and will be displayed in downtown shop windows.

A reception will be held at 11 Oak St. in Augusta, starting at 3:00 p.m. There will be live music by Maine Arts Academy’s Folk and Blues Ensemble, along with light refreshments at the reception. FMI

Sexual Assault Crisis & Support Center Celebrity Dinner at the Augusta Civic Center is their major fundraising event of the year and is a fun and helpful way to support those affected by sexual violence. The theme is Costume Party! The Celebrity Dinner is not only an opportunity to raise funds, but also a chance for us to come together as a community to celebrate the resiliency of survivors while also promoting awareness about the important issue of sexual violence. Hosted by the Sexual Assault Crisis & Support Center. Run or walk in solidarity against the harsh reality of the impact of sexual violence in our Maine communities. Inspired by the current Maine statistic of an estimated ONE in FIVE people in Maine have been affected by sexual violence. You can choose to sign up for the virtual race which we have extended to May 12th, or you can join us at FirstPark on April 28th. This event is taking place in the month of April to honor Sexual Assault Awareness Month!

Save Your Breath 5K @ Kennebec Rail Trail

Save Your Breath chipped time 5k run, walk or a virtual your place run/walk, a children’s fun run and a silent auction. Cash prizes, finishers medals. The run is along the Kennebec Rail Trail from Augusta to Hallowell and return. Walkers are welcome to enjoy a walk to Hallowell or they can enjoy a 5k walk around Capitol Park. Award ceremony immediately after the race results. There will be music to welcome the participants a the start/finish line. All are welcome. All proceeds support Free ME from Lung Cancer’s mission ~ research, early lung cancer screening and helping single family homeowners get access to radon air abatement systems.
