According to WMTW TV, Auburn’s Heathco’s Pizza & Variety is closed after a car crashed into the shop early Monday, leaving extensive damage.
Photos from the business show a red sedan inside the building, debris across the floor, and a large hole in an exterior wall. Manager Abigail Chartier said the crash happened around 3:23 a.m. and destroyed equipment, including a pizza oven valued at about $100,000. She estimates the total damage could reach hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Chartier said the location has experienced previous vehicle crashes, but called this one the worst. She was also struck by bystanders who rushed inside after the collision to help.
The shop hopes to reopen within a few weeks and is asking for community support during repairs. The driver’s condition has not been released.
