UPDATE: Death in Augusta Ruled Homicide

UPDATE: The Augusta Police Department responded to a shooting at Flagg Street in Augusta, Feb. 2. The cause of death has now been determined to be a gunshot wound, and the manner of death a homicide.

The deceased has been identified as 51-year-old Billyjack Curtis of Augusta. The investigation remains ongoing.

ORIGINAL POST: The Augusta Police Department responded to an incident on Flagg Street in Augusta, late Monday night, Feb. 2. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased adult male.

The Maine State Police say the circumstances surrounding the death are currently under investigation.

The deceased was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death.

At this time, there is no known threat to the public.
