A powerful storm turned deadly in Corinth on Thursday when a falling tree crashed into a moving car, killing the driver.
The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office says the sedan was headed north on Route 15 when a tree snapped and slammed through the windshield.
Even after the impact, the vehicle continued down the road until another driver was able to bring it to a stop.
Two children were also in the car. One was treated for injuries at the scene and released, while the other was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
Route 15 has since reopened, and investigators have cleared the scene. Authorities have not yet released the name of the driver as they continue investigating what happened.
