A routine traffic stop in Bradford on Saturday, June 20, led to the seizure of a significant quantity of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and crack cocaine, resulting in the arrest of three individuals on multiple aggravated drug trafficking charges.
A deputy with the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office initiated the traffic stop on East Road for motor vehicle violations. During the investigation, the deputy determined the driver was operating with a suspended license and was subject to active bail conditions. The vehicle had two additional occupants.
Probable cause was developed to search the vehicle, leading to the discovery of the following:
- Over 120 gross grams of Methamphetamine
- Nearly 15 gross grams of Fentanyl
- Approximately 6 grams of Cocaine Base (Crack Cocaine)
During the detention process, one of the occupants attempted to flee the scene while handcuffed but tripped, fell, and was quickly apprehended.
The following individuals were arrested and charged:
- Nicholas Mitchell, 36, of Bangor, was charged with two counts of Aggravated Trafficking of Scheduled W Drugs, Unlawful Possession of Scheduled W Drugs, Unsworn Falsification, Refusing to Submit to Arrest/Detention, and 12 counts of Violation of Conditional Release.
- Wilbur Babb, 63, of Alton, was charged with two counts of Aggravated Trafficking of Scheduled W Drugs, Unlawful Possession of Scheduled W Drugs, and Violation of Conditional Release.
- Jennifer Worotnik, 47, of Bangor, was charged with two counts of Aggravated Trafficking of Scheduled W Drugs and Unlawful Possession of Scheduled W Drugs.
The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate this case.
