Fatal Crash in Minot

The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash on Center Minot Hill Road in Minot, Aug. 26.

48-year-old Jonathan Spofford of Hebron, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

At approximately 5:36 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, deputies from the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office, along with Minot Fire-Rescue and Auburn Fire Department, responded to a serious two-vehicle crash in the 700 block of Center Minot Hill Road in Minot.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a black 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, operated by Dylan Conlon, 39, of Norway, Maine, was traveling northbound on Center Minot Hill Road when it crossed the centerline and collided with a gold 2004 Mercury minivan traveling southbound. The minivan was being driven by Jonathan Spofford, 48, of Hebron, Maine. Mr. Spofford sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was extricated from the vehicle by Minot Fire personnel with assistance from Auburn Fire Department. Mr. Conlon was not injured in the crash. Center Minot Hill Road was closed between Marston Hill Road and Woodman Hill Road for nearly five hours as authorities conducted an on-scene investigation. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
