The cause of a fatal weekend crash on the Unionville Road in Steuben is still under investigation. Speed appears to be a factor.

From Maine State Police:

On Sunday, December 10, 2023, at approximately 1:30 pm, Troopers responded to a single vehicle crash in Steuben. Initial investigation indicates the driver of a 2013 Chevy Malibu was traveling southbound on Unionville Road in Steuben when the vehicle came over the hill and went airborne. The driver lost control and the vehicle struck a large tree on the passenger side. The passenger was discovered deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but speed appears to be a factor in the crash. The identity of the deceased will not be released pending the notification of next of kin.
