25-year-old Payson Viles has died as the result of a blaze early this morning, Nov. 7, on Ridge Road in Windsor. Viles was discovered in a camper trailer on the property.

From Maine State Police:

On Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at approximately 12:40 am, the Augusta Regional Communications Center received a 911 call regrading a fire at 762 Ridge Road in Windsor. The Windsor Fire Department responded and determined that one person had died as a result of the fire. The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Payson Viles who was discovered in a camper trailer (RV) located on the property. The remains have been transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta. A second person escaped the fire with minor injuries. Investigators from the Fire Marshal’s Office responded and are processing the scene. There is no indication of foul play at this time. Assisting at the fire scene was the Whitefield, Jefferson and Somerville Fire Departments, Windsor and Delta Rescue and the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.
