Rumford Police say 66-year-old Mark McCollough of Rumford died after being hit by a pickup truck driven by a teen in Rumford.
Last night, Sept. 22, a Toyota Tacoma driven by a 17-year-old boy hit a pedestrian identified as McCollough, on Kerr Street between Dunton Street and Forest Avenue.

At approximately 9:54 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2025, the Rumford Police Department, along with Rumford Fire and MedCare Ambulance personnel responded to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Kerr Street, between Dunton Street and Forest Avenue. Preliminary information indicates a 2012 Toyota Tacoma, operated southbound by a 17-year-old male from Mexico, Maine, struck a pedestrian in the roadway. The pedestrian was identified as Mark Mccollough, 66, of Hillside Avenue, Rumford. Mr. Mccollough was pronounced deceased at the scene. As is routine in all fatal crashes, the incident remains actively under investigation by a specialized traffic crash reconstructionist and Rumford PD investigators to determine the facts and cause. Forensic blood draws were obtained from both the driver and the pedestrian to determine whether alcohol or drugs were factors. Investigators will also seek a search warrant to conduct a more thorough forensic examination of the vehicle involved and its onboard systems.
A Rumford PD detective will attend an autopsy expected later today at the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta to determine the cause of death.
At this time, the investigation is still ongoing and there is insufficient evidence to support any criminal charges or to make any findings of exactly what happened. The identity of the juvenile driver will not be released.Request for Community Assistance:
