Firefighters battled a blaze that destroyed a converted travel trailer being used as a woodworking shop and caused extensive damage to a nearby mobile home on Warren Hill Road in Palmyra.
The Hartland Fire Department responded to 603 Warren Hill Road, April 11, for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, crews found the 32-foot travel trailer heavily engulfed in flames, with fire already spreading to an adjacent mobile home.
Mutual aid was requested and provided by the St. Albans, Canaan, Corinna, Newport, and Pittsfield fire departments. Firefighters worked to bring the fire under control, and no injuries were reported.
The property owners were not home at the time of the fire. One cat that lived on the property remains unaccounted for.
The travel trailer was completely destroyed, and the mobile home sustained extensive fire damage.
The American Red Cross has been notified and is assisting the displaced residents.
Investigators from the Maine Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene but were unable to determine a specific origin or cause due to the extent of the damage. The fire has been classified as undetermined, and there is no indication of suspicious activity at this time.
