A Kentucky man who won a $167 million Powerball jackpot last year has been arrested for the fourth time since claiming the prize.
James Farthing, 51, was taken into custody Monday after police say he assaulted a woman during an argument the previous day. Investigators allege Farthing strangled the victim, who had visible marks on her neck. He was charged with domestic violence-related strangulation and assault.
Farthing pleaded not guilty during a court appearance Tuesday. A judge set his bond at $15,000 and ordered him to wear a monitoring device that alerts the victim if he comes near her. He is also prohibited from contacting the woman.
The latest arrest follows several previous run-ins with the law since his lottery win. Farthing pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery and resisting an officer charges in Florida in April 2025. He was later arrested in Scott County on an intimidation charge in February and again in March on charges that included burglary.
