The City of Lewiston has lifted the boil water order issued Sunday, March 22, after a water main break on Orange Street between Webster Street and Sabattus Street.
All Lewiston schools were closed on Monday, March 23, after the water main break. A 24-hour boil water order was originally put in in effect across most of the city.
Water quality testing has been completed, and results confirm the water is safe for consumption.
Residents in the previously affected areas should run cold water for five minutes before use to help flush the system. Once complete residents may resume normal use of tap water, including drinking, cooking and brushing teeth, without boiling.
