Jerry Thibodeau, 36, of Lewiston has been arrested for the murder Anthony Ayotte, 40 of Lewiston. An autopsy will be performed to determine cause and manner of death.

On Friday, November 3, 2023, shortly after 7:30pm, an adult male was dropped off at the Emergency Department of St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston Maine. The injured male was treated at St. Mary’s but would later succumb to his injuries the following morning. The deceased was identified as 40-year-old Anthony Ayotte of Lewiston. On Saturday, November 4, 2023, Maine State Police Detectives working with Lewiston Police Detectives conducted interviews and collected evidence which led to obtaining an arrest warrant for murder for 36-years-old Jerry Thibodeau (07/28/87) of Lewiston. Shortly after 5:00 pm, Lewiston Police located Thibodeau at a residence on Sabattus Street where he refused to leave the home. The Maine State Police Tactical Team and Crisis Negotiation Team responded and shortly after 10:00 pm, Thibodeau was taken into custody without incident. Thibodeau is believed to have dropped Ayotte at the hospital Friday night. The two are known to each other. Thibodeau was transported to the Androscoggin County Jail where he will make an initial appearance in Androscoggin District Court on Monday, November 6, 2023.
The deceased was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta where an autopsy is expected to determine cause and manner of death.
