The deadline to file taxes is still months away, but for many of us, April 15 will be here sooner than we think.

This year’s annual Tax Procrastinators Report by IPX1031 found 1 in 4 Americans don’t feel prepared to file their taxes and 29% admit to procrastinating.

When it comes down to the biggest procrastinators by state, Maine ranks #10 in the country.

Americans expect the average refund to be $2,552. Compared to 2023, 30% expect to get less of a refund this year.

Why do we avoid doing our taxes? The #1 reason is that it’s just too complicated and stressful. Other reasons why many put off filing is because it’s too time consuming. They want to make sure it’s correct, or they’re worried they’ll owe money.

Here are forms and due dates for Maine.
