44-year-old Lado Lodoka was killed in an explosion over the weekend at their home at 1342 Intervale Road in New Gloucester. The fire has been ruled accidental.

From the Maine State Police:

On Saturday, December 2, 2023, at approximately 12:15 pm, the New Gloucester Fire and Rescue Department responded to a fire/explosion at a home at 1342 Intervale Road in New Gloucester. The initial investigation indicates the homeowner was working on the home’s furnace when the explosion occurred. It was an oil-fired burner. The homeowner, 44-year-old Lado Lodoka was killed in the explosion. A family member was inside the home at the time and was able to get out safely. The fire is accidental. The investigation as to what caused the explosion is ongoing. New Gloucester Fire and Rescue was assisted by the Pownal, Gray, Durham, Auburn, and North Yarmouth Fire Departments. The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and an inspector with Maine Solid Fuel assisted on scene as well.
