Rockland’s Oceanside High School boys basketball coach Larry Read, according to the Bangor Daily News, says the Maine Principals’ Association told him to make games “a little more contested.”
Last year’s Class B State Champs are currently 11-0 and have 5 wins this year by over 50 points.
Reed said the Ethics Committee of the MPA could step in if the season continues with such lopsided victories.
Oceanside coach Larry Reed has been forced to pull high-scoring starters and even instruct his team to avoid layups during the fourth quarter of a game with Belfast.
After a series of lopsided basketball wins, Oceanside High received communication from other schools & the MPA calling into question the program's sportsmanship. Troy Smith,AD, says 'I have full confidence that all our teams will continue to operate under the MPA Code of Ethics'
