A jury has found both Alphabet’s Google (YouTube) and Meta (Facebook/Instagram) liable in a landmark social media addiction lawsuit, awarding a plaintiff $3 million in damages.
The plaintiff, a now 20-year-old woman, claimed she became addicted to the apps at a young age because of their attention-grabbing design.
Snap Chat and TikTok were also originally defendants, but settled before the trial began.
