The State Fire Marshal is investigating a fire at an apartment complex in Wells last night, Nov. 18. Residents inside the building were able to get out safely and no injuries were reported.

On Monday, November 18, 2024, at approximately 7:39 pm the Office of the State Fire Marshal (FMO) was requested to respond to a multi-unit apartment complex fire on Sanford Road. The Wells Fire Chief reported that several units were involved in the fire. Residents inside the building were able to get out safely and no injuries were reported. Fire Investigators from the FMO and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) responded to process the scene and conduct numerous interviews. Investigators determined that the fire started outside near a porch and was caused by careless disposal of smoking materials.
