State Law Enforcement Agencies Warn About Scam Calls

  • Published

The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office is warning of an ongoing scam.

They say that several law enforcement agencies across Maine have posted public awareness notices related to scam calls regarding active warrants for an individual’s arrest.

Scammers are using titles and names of officers during these fake calls. They attempt to get individuals to pay for bail or fines because of an active warrant. The scammers haven’t even been able to pronounce the name of our county when calling, this should be a good hint these are scams. Please do not provide any information to these type of scam calls. NO LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES will make these types of calls.
