UPDATE:

From the Maine State police:

On Monday evening November 27, 2023 and Tuesday morning November 28, 2023, autopsies were conducted on two individuals who were found deceased at a home in Searsmont. The individuals were identified as 50-year-old Amy Nickerson of Stockton Springs and 50-year-old Lance Lucas of Searsmont. The Office of Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) has ruled the death of Amy Nickerson as a homicide. The cause of death was a gunshot wound. The OCME has ruled the death of Lance Lucas as a suicide. The cause of death was a gunshot wound. Nickerson and Lucas were domestic partners who had recently broken up. Detectives with MSP’s Major Crimes Unit-Central continue to investigate the sequence of events that occurred prior to and during the incident.

Yesterday afternoon, Nov. 28, two people were discovered to be deceased at a Borough Road residence in Searsmont. An investigation is underway.

On Monday, November 27, 2023, at approximately 1:50 pm, the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Borough Road in Searsmont where two adults were found deceased. The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit-Central was called in to investigate. The deceased will be transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death. There is no risk to the public.
