Nicholas Lovejoy in 2022 pleaded guilty to murdering Melissa Sousa, his girlfriend and mother of their twin daughters. The murder occurred in 2019.

Yesterday, May 23, his appeal of his 42 year sentence was denied. Lovejoy argued the court made a mistake when it denied his motion to suppress evidence, he claimed was from an unlawful traffic stop. According to WGME, he also claimed the court abused its discretion in considering his mental health state during sentencing.
