A road improvement project in downtown Norridgewock is set to get underway August 10, bringing several months of traffic changes to the area.
The Maine Department of Transportation says the project will include rebuilding sidewalks, upgrading lighting along Route 2 through downtown, and repaving portions of Routes 2 and 201A.
During construction, eastbound Route 2 traffic will be detoured from Route 2/201A onto Perkins Street and Mechanic Street before reconnecting near the Route 2/139 intersection. Westbound drivers on Route 2 will be limited to one-way traffic through the work zone.
The detour is scheduled to remain in effect from August 10 through November 20. Message boards have been installed to alert motorists to the changes.
The overall project is expected to be finished in the fall of 2026.
Ranger Construction of Fairfield is the contractor for the project.
