The Fire Marshals Office to 118 Aroostook Road in the town of Molunkus in Aroostook County Friday, Jan. 17, for an explosion with one reported fatality.
The deceased was identified as 66-year-old Kerry Holmes. Fire Investigators learned that Holmes, the property owner, was utilizing a propane torch to thaw a frozen water tank on a commercial truck.
At some point, the torch flame went out and propane gas collected in and around the tank. A second torch being used is suspected as the ignition source.
Holmes was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
