68-year-old Diana O’Neal of Machias was pronounced deceased at the scene of a crash on Route 1 in Jonesboro yesterday, Aug. 8.

From the Maine State Police:

On Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at approximately 12:45 pm, Troopers responded to a report of a fatal crash on Route 1 in Jonesboro near the Columbia Falls town line. The initial investigation indicates that 69-year-old Lenore Faulkingham of Whitneyville was traveling east on Route 1 in a Jonesboro in a 2018 Chevrolet pickup when she crossed the center line of the road and struck a 2003 Subaru Forester being operated by 62-year-old Tammy O’Neal of Machias. O’Neal’s sister, 68-year-old Diana O’Neal of Machias was a passenger in the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Faulkingham and her 15-year-old grandson were transported to Downeast Community Hospital in Machias to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. Tammy O’Neal was also transported to Downeast Community Hospital in Machias to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Troopers were assisted by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Jonesboro Fire Department. The crash remains under investigation.
