Personnel from the Topsham Police and Topsham Fire and Rescue responded to the crash and found a female victim lying on the ground, in the crosswalk, with numerous injuries. Witnesses to the incident described the offending vehicle as a Mazda CX-5 and provided its registration plate number. The vehicle in question reportedly fled the scene after striking the female subject. One witness stated they had witnessed the vehicle involved accelerate through the parking lot once, prior to the crash, and then return to its original position before again accelerating and striking the woman.
