Mexico Man Arrested on Drug Trafficking Charges After Traffic Stop

A 44-year-old Peru man faces drug trafficking charges after Oxford County deputies seized multiple illegal narcotics during a traffic stop on Tuesday afternoon, June 2.

Oxford County Deputy initiated a traffic stop for a minor traffic violation on River Road in Mexico. During the roadside investigation, deputies observed one of the vehicle’s occupants attempting to conceal something on his person. A Rumford Police Department K9 Officer assisted with the search, leading to the discovery of illegal narcotics.

The passenger, Anthony Scott of Peru, was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs. Scott was transported to the Oxford County Jail and booked into the facility. He has since been released and is currently under three active sets of bail conditions.

Deputies seized the following: 22.49 grams of methamphetamine, 4.6 grams of cocaine base, 4.4 grams of fentanyl, and 3.7 grams of cocaine.

The investigation remains ongoing.
