Rockland Police arrested a 37-year-old local man on Saturday, June 27, following a reported random assault involving pepper spray that occurred around 10:00am.
Officers responded to the incident and determined that Nicholas Wallace, who is associated with Transnet Rockland, chased down a woman who had jogged past him. Wallace allegedly pepper-sprayed the woman before witnesses intervened and chased him off.
The victim has no known connection to Wallace, and authorities believe the assault was entirely random.
Wallace was taken into custody and charged with the following offenses:
- Criminal Threatening
- Terrorizing
- Disorderly Conduct
- Assault
- Criminal Use of Disabling Chemicals
Rockland Police continue to investigate the incident. No further details about the victim or additional witnesses have been released at this time.
