A routine traffic stop earlier this month escalated into multiple arrests after Maine State Police troopers discovered drugs and outstanding warrants during the encounter.
Troopers from the Maine State Police Central Field Troop pulled over an SUV in Farmingdale, April 6, for a motor vehicle violation. What began as a standard enforcement action quickly developed into a significant drug-related case.
The driver, Samantha Robinson, 32, of Augusta, was arrested after troopers developed probable cause to believe she was operating under the influence of alcohol. She was charged with Operating Under the Influence. Her front-seat passenger, Sheena Wright, 61, also of Augusta, was taken into custody on an active Failure to Appear misdemeanor arrest warrant stemming from a theft charge.
Investigation of the rear-seat passenger yielded the most serious findings. Nevaeh Harris, 19, of New York City, initially provided troopers with a false name. A subsequent search revealed Harris was in possession of approximately 44.9 grams of cocaine base (commonly known as “crack”) and 8.8 grams of fentanyl. Harris was arrested and charged with various offenses.
Wright and Harris were transported to the Kennebec County Jail. Robinson was also taken into custody on the OUI charge.
Maine State Police have not released additional details about the vehicle or whether other charges are pending.
