KFC is making big changes as it battles growing competition in the fast-food chicken market. This may be good timing given the popularity of the recently opened Popeyes in Augusta!
The company plans to focus more on boneless chicken, upgrade its chicken tenders, and introduce more dipping sauces. New menu items featuring chicken drenched in sauces are already appearing in some countries and are expected to expand to more locations this year.
KFC is also adding new beverages, including flavored lemonades, iced coffees, and boba-style drinks under a new brand called Kwench.
Beyond the menu, the chain is unveiling redesigned restaurants aimed at creating a more engaging dining experience and encouraging customers to spend less time on their phones. The company is also refreshing its branding, including updates to its iconic Colonel Sanders image and logo.
While KFC remains one of the world’s largest restaurant chains with more than 34,000 locations, it has struggled to keep pace with rivals in the U.S. Its market share has declined in recent years as competitors such as Raising Cane’s and Popeyes have gained ground.
The company says recent efforts, including value meals and menu improvements, have helped boost U.S. sales over the past three quarters as it works to win back customers.
