The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has received numerous recent complaints reporting phone calls from someone claiming to b a “Lieutenant Stevens.”
The caller says the resident has a failure to appear jury duty warrant.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office:
These are both SCAM CALLS. We do NOT have a Lt. Stevens here at the Sheriff’s Office, and we would never call, demanding money be paid in order to avoid your arrest. The best course of action if you receive a phone call of this nature is to block the number and make your friends and family aware of the scam. DO NOT PROVIDE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION OR BANKING INFORMATION TO THESE CALLERS. If you or someone you know does provide banking information, immediately contact the bank to cancel the card/account.
