City councilors in Hallowell unanimously approved a ban on using pesticide on private property starting in January.

According to CentralMaine.com, the ordinance will allow for the use of fertilizers.

Hallowell bans pesticides, OKs fertilizers on private property. The new rules, seen in only a handful of Maine municipalities, are to go into effect in January. CentralMaine.com reports.
